Jim Corbett Safari Zones: The Heart of Jim Corbett National Park
Spread over 1300 square kilometers, the Jim Corbett National Park is divided into unique zones, including Bijrani, Dhikala, Jhirna, Dhela, Sitabani, Phato, Garjia, and Durga Devi. As stated above, each safari zone offers a distinct wildlife adventure and represents the beautiful ecosystem of Corbett. Exploring these safari zones is no longer limited to flora and fauna but includes exploring the stunning landscape, rolling hills, and panoramic grasslands. We at the Anantum Gateway Resorts & Spa, located on Dhela Road, Ramnagar, are close to many safari zones, which makes us an excellent base for exploring them. The Jim Corbett National Park safari zones include:
Dhikala Zone
The Dhikala Zone is the most popular zone of Jim Corbett National Park and is the best zone to spot a tiger in its natural habitat. It offers a landscape of open grasslands, river channels, and the wilderness of Sal trees, making it highly preferable for nature and wildlife lovers. The Dhikala Zone is home to several wild animals, including Asiatic elephants and spotted deer. One can also witness a British-era rest house here, which is hidden within the forest range and is available to book for those who wish to spend a night at the Jim Corbett National Park. It is located around 25 kilometers away from the Anantum Gateway Resorts & Spa.
Bijrani Zone
It is located close to Amdanda Gate at Jim Corbett National Park and is around 15 kilometers away from our resort. The Bijrani Zone is blessed with a beautiful landscape of grasslands and sal forest, offering a serene and peaceful atmosphere to spend some time. Among the several Jim Corbett National Park safari zones, this zone claims to be the prime destination for tiger sightings.
Jhirna Zone
The Jhirna Zone lies along the southern boundary of Jim Corbett National Park and is among the best zones of the park to spot a tiger. It consists of varied wildlife species like Bengal tigers, leopards, Asiatic elephants, and sloth bears. Brought under the tiger reserve as a tiger safari zone in 1994, Jhirna is a popular zone among Jim Corbett’s visitors. Abundant with wildlife, Jhirna remains open throughout the year and can be accessed through the Dhela gate. Our resort is only 10 kilometers from Dhela Gate, the entry point for Jhirna.
Dhela Zone
Dhela Zone is one of the most popular among the six ecotourism zones in Corbett National Park. The Corbett National Park is divided into six tourism zones, among which the Jhirna zone was added much later in 1994. To extend the Tiger Reserve zone, the farming lands of the Jhirna village and two other villages were included in the reserve territory, and the villages were relocated to some other place nearby. Our Anantum Gateway Resorts & Spa is 10 to 12 kilometers away from Dhela Zone.
Durga Devi Zone
Durga Devi Zone is known for its hilly terrain and dense forests, making it a haven for birdwatchers. Species like the grey-headed fishing eagle and maroon oriole are commonly spotted here. It is located around 36 kilometers away from our resort.
Sitabani Zone
Sitabani Zone is not part of the core tiger reserve but is rich in biodiversity. It is known for its temple dedicated to Goddess Sita and offers a tranquil environment with opportunities to spot various bird species and occasional wildlife. It is located around 33 kilometers away from Anantum Gateway Resorts & Spa.
Garjia Zone
Garjia is a new safari zone being added, and it is now available for tourists to enjoy the safari. Garjia is a popular jungle area of the picturesque Jim Corbett National Park. This tourism zone is enriched with many floral and faunal species. Its distance from Anantum Gateway Resorts & Spa is approximately 15 kilometers.
Phato Zone
Phato Zone is one of the newer zones in Jim Corbett National Park, offering visitors a chance to explore less frequented areas of the park. It is known for its rich biodiversity and serene landscapes. Our resort is approximately 14 to 15 kilometres from Phato Gate.
